Copper is not afraid of water, on the contrary, several years of metal interaction with oxygen will lead to the formation on it (metal) of an oxide film of brown or greenish hue, which is called patina. This film guarantees an incredibly long service life of the drain.

Copper drain looks great and durable. But he has a flaw. From time to time, the system should be cleaned from the accumulation of foliage, moss, twigs and other debris.   • Welded method. Welding will make your drain a whole. But there is a difficulty in the welding of copper, because when heated, it produces oxygen, and this makes it very fragile. This explains the non-prevalence of welding such a metal.
  • Soldering. This method is based on the use of special equipment, as well as solder and flux. The ideal option is a capillary soldering. It eliminates the occurrence of metal brittleness in the working area.

They are very similar, including the price per meter. In plastic, the main advantage is durability and sound absorption, while in metal the strengths are durability (in versions with special protective coatings) and hardness.

Both options can burst in the cold if there is water in them, it is possible if the drain pipe outlet is clogged.As a rule, such situations with proper installation do not arise. Plastic products become soft in the heat under the sun, while metal counterparts are heated to such an extent that they can burn a person.

All these features are in fact little noticeable in operating conditions. There has not been a single case when a patient was brought to the clinic with a burn from a drainpipe. There were also no cases when the plastic drain in the sun melted like a chocolate bar.

If you choose between these two types, then make a decision for some personal reasons. Perhaps, the decisive role will be played by some kind of “burning offer” for drainage systems from the listed materials in the construction hypermarket.
