How tuberculosis is transmitted - ways
Tuberculosis is caused by a microbe called Mycobacterium or Koch sticks. Most often, tuberculosis is transmitted by airborne droplets. When coughing and sneezing, the patient, together with droplets of sputum and saliva, releases the causative agent of tuberculosis into the environment. Inhalation of mycobacteria leads to infection.
Koch's wand can keep its activity in the mold or in the dust for a long time. Breathing in the contaminated dust, a person can also become infected with tuberculosis. This transmission of the disease is called airborne dust.
Tuberculosis not only people get sick. He is subject to cattle. Thus, if a person eats the meat and milk of sick animals,who have not undergone full heat treatment, then there is the likelihood of infection with tuberculosis. This mode of transmission of the disease is called alimentary or nutritional.
Some people believe that tuberculosis is sexually transmitted. This is due to the fact that the infection can affect not only the lungs. Extrapulmonary forms of the disease, including genital tuberculosis, are also common in clinical practice. However, this form of tuberculosis is not sexually transmitted. Is tuberculosis inherited? Many couples in which one spouse is sick or had previously suffered from tuberculosis are worried about whether tuberculosis is inherited. I would like to reassure them, the disease itself is not inherited.
However, there are genes that determine the sensitivity of the human body to tuberculosis. And if a person has a high sensitivity to Koch's wand, then he can pass it on to his children. But at the same time from the second parent, they may well inherit the genes that make them resistant to tuberculosis.
