The regiment at the airport Besovets received five more Su-35S fighters

The process of rearming the Su-35S fighters of the 159th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment of the 105th Mixed Aviation Division of the 6th Leningrad Red Banner Army of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Western Military District, stationed at the Besovets airfield in Karelia, is completing.
As reported by the spotters, on July 13, 2018, a flight took place from Komsomolsk-on-Amur with intermediate landings in Novosibirsk and, apparently, in Perm, five Su-35S fighters heading for the 159th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment in Besovets.

One of the three new Su-35S fighters transferred to the VKS of Russia (airborne number “72 red”) built by the Komsomolsk-on-Amur aircraft factory (a branch of Sukhoi Company JSC) under the state defense order program of 2018 and intended for the 159th Guards fighter Aviation Regiment of the 105th Mixed Aviation Division of the 6th Leningrad Red Banner Army Air Force and Air Defense of the Western Military District, during an intermediate landing in Tolmachevo (Novosibirsk).13.07.2018 (c) Yuri Shelukhov / vk.com
Three of these fighters with red side numbers "70", "71" and "72" are the first three Su-35S aircraft built by the Komsomolsk-on-Amur aircraft factory (KnAAZ, a branch of the Sukhoi Company JSC) under the program of the state defense order in 2018. These aircraft were manufactured under the new five-year contract for the supply of 50 Su-35S fighters concluded by the Russian Ministry of Defense with the Sukhoi Company JSC. The first ten Su-35S aircraft under this contract were built by 2016, another ten - in 2017. It was reported that by program KnAAZ must hand over ten more Su-35S to the state defense order of 2018.
The other two Su-35S airplanes that flew on July 13 to Besovets were fighters with red side numbers "07" and "10" and dark colors that were built by the KnAAZ 2014 and were previously part of the 23rd Fighter Aviation Regiment of the 303rd Guards mixed aviation division of the 11th Army Air Force and Air Defense of the Eastern Military District, stationed at the airfield Dzemgi in Komsomolsk-on-Amur.
The 159th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment began receiving Su-35S fighters in December 2016,when it included the first six fighters of this type of new built KnAAZ with red side numbers from "54" to "59", During 2017, the regiment received ten more Su-35S fighters built by KnAAZ according to the program of 2017 - six at the end of October ( airplanes with red side numbers "61", "62", "63", "64", "67" and "68"), and four at the end of November 2017 (airplanes with red side numbers "21", "22 "," 23 "and" 24 ").
In addition, at the end of November 2017, two Su-35S aircraft from the 23rd Fighter Aviation Regiment from the Dzemgi airfield arrived in Besovets - fighters with red side numbers "03" and "05" and dark colors, which are the machines built in 2014 KnAAZ .
Thus, with the arrival of five more Su-35S fighters, the 159th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment has now been brought up to 23 aircraft of this type (19 new KnAAZ 2016-2018 and four 2014 buildings from the 23rd regiment) .
The 159th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment was the first "linear" aviation unit of the VKS in Western Russia that received the Su-35S aircraft. Until the beginning of 2016, this regiment was equipped with non-modernized Su-27 and Su-27UB fighters (two squadrons - a total of about 20 Su-27 and four Su-27UB).In the spring of 2016, the transfer of the upgraded Su-27SM fighter jets to the 159th regiment was released as a result of the rearmament of the Su-35S fighters of the 22nd and 23rd Fighter Aviation Regiments of the 303rd Guards Mixed Aviation Division of the 11th Red Banner Army Air Force and Air Defense of the Eastern Military District. And at the end of 2016, the supply and Su-35S fighters of the new construction were started in Besovets. The Su-27 and Su-27SM fighters, now freed from the 159th Regiment, will apparently be transferred to other aviation units.
Taking into account the first contract of 2009 for 48 Su-35S fighter jets, the Russian Aerospace Forces thus received from the end of 2012, by now, 71 production Su-35S aircraft.
